Background: Alex is very polite to the people around him and tries to assist others when the need arises. He attempts to remain on the sidelines mostly, only getting highly involved if he must.

In actuality, though, this is entirely a guise so he can manipulate people. Alex is completely power hungry, and remains "friendly" to others and get them to go along with him, though he stays a bit distant to hide his true nature. He will join forces with people only if it will benefit him, and likewise will oppose them only if they oppose his goals. Once he feels someone is no longer useful, he feels he can easily leave them behind without a second thought, regardless of their situation. While it is next to impossible for others to see what he is really up to, it is not uncommon for people to find something feels off about him.

Alex grew up in a relatively normal wizarding family, the only child of two working parents. In his free time while they were not home, he read stories about great witches and wizards and of the various powers they displayed. At a very young age he began to idolize such people and wanted to become great like them. As he grew older and started hearing about the various troubles in the wizarding world, his initial thought of wanting to fix things quickly mixed with his desire to become powerful, and at a relatively young age he was harboring desires to rule the world, though they were not very developed at the time.

He continued to read about the great wizarding feats of the past, and shortly before he entered Hogwarts he started focusing his studies on Alchemy and on the more powerful and unique types of magic that had been used in history. By the time he was eleven, he already had a loose plan for gaining total power in mind, though he knew it would be a long road that would be defined by the things he learned in school. He also was aware that making enemies would not help him initially, so upon his first steps on the Hogwarts Express he was as congenial as possible to the other students, when in reality he liked very few of them. As he began his courses he was a very attentive student, getting above average scores in his classes. In secret, he continued reading up on the various powers he wished to achieve, and partway through his second year he began attempting to master a few of the more basic ones in secret.

As the years passed, his plans became much more set in his mind and his inner desires became far more dark, though in the eyes of everyone else he remained polite as ever. From his work in class, Alex is currently still viewed as being a moderately achieved student, although in his secret work he has already mastered a handful of powerful spells not normal for his age and is currently working on more obscure magic, though he is attempting to keep this as much of a secret as possible. His interest in Alchemy has remained strong, especially in the powers of the Philosopher's Stone. He is rather aware of the forming split in the wizarding world, however he has no desire to pick sides and is merely biding his time to see what will benefit his own goals the most. Lately, Alex has decided he needs to begin forming alliances with others so they can help him reach his ends without telling them they're doing so, and so has started reaching out to his classmates a bit more to gain information.
